By now it's common knowledge that 28 million select Kellogg's cereal boxes were pulled from grocery store shelves across the country last week in a voluntary recall.

What's been slower to hit the news is what consumers who purchased Apple Jacks, Froot Loops, Corn Pops, or Honey Smacks could do to replace the boxes that gave off an odd smell and flavor and reportedly caused nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

An article on today's Chicago Tribune web site outlines the steps consumers can take to receive coupons for a free box (or boxes, depending on how many boxes were purchased and later recalled).

Consumers can call the Kellogg Customer Response Center at 888-801-4163 where they will hear an automated voice list each recalled product. Instructions are then given for obtaining coupons for replacement boxes.
Callers are prompted to leave their contact information and details on how many boxes were purchased.
Coupons are expected to arrive, via mail, within 7 to 10 business days.
